It's a common misconception that the line showing a fire perimeter means that everything inside the perimeter is burned black. That's simply not the case, in fact, there are many colors inside the burn. The fire mosaic is a combination of black where the fire scorched everything, brown where it burnedbut not completely, yellow where it burned lightly and large areas that remain green.
This video, shot in a helicopter on July 25th by Jeremy Fallon- Fire Behavior Analyst, begins on the west side of the fire just north of Twisp and heads due east toward Loup Loup Ski Area and then turns north. You will see light smoke, some portions of paved road which is highway 20, but all the colors of the fire mosaic and unburned areas.
Helicopter flight from Twisp to Loup Loup then North.
