7/29/14 4:50 pm Carlton - North Active in the Gold Creek Area
Operations personnel are reporting that they are working to hold the fire in the Gold Creek area. While line was completed around the area yesterday, they were waiting a few days to call it contained and using the time to make it more secure. Today's hot and dry weather, along with afternoon winds, has pushed the fire across the line and it has worked its way up a ridge north of Gold Creek. Aircraft are being used to drop retardant along the ridge top to try and keep the fire from crossing the ridge and allowing burning trees & logs to roll down the other side. The area that is burning along the ridge is likely to put up a lot of smoke and aircraft will be in the area.
