The Red Cross will cover costs at local laundromats for residents affected by the Carlton Complex wildfires.
Free laundry service is available July 29, July 31 and Aug. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. at:
- LaMilpa Laundromat, 324 E. Main St. Brewster WA 98812
- Wash Works, 325 E. Hwy. 20, Twisp WA 98856
The Red Cross is also providing fire victims with clean-up items, including rakes, shovels, brooms, dustpans and work gloves. Sunscreen, eyewash, masks, flashlights, headlamps and batteries are also available. Pick up items from Chelan High School, the Red Cross shelter at Brewster High School, or from Red Cross trucks driving through the Pateros, Winthrop, Twisp and Carlton areas.
All residents affected by the fires are welcome to come to the Red Cross shelter at Brewster High School for free food, water and snacks, to take a shower or to connect with Red Cross caseworkers, counselors and health professionals. The shelter has Spanish-speaking staff.
