Current Information:
Direct
line construction continues today from Goat Mountain to the left hand fork of
Black Creek, and also from the north to Little Joe Creek. Helicopters and the
Super Scooper (CL215) planes, which scoop water from the Columbia River while
in flight, will again be available for water drops. Handline construction remains slow and
difficult due to heavy vegetation and steep terrain in some fire areas. Limited
tree torching was observed yesterday in the interior, but this did not pose a
threat to containment lines. Patrol and mop-up operations continue through
Antoine Canyon and the Alta Lake subdivision. At this time, there is no threat
from fire activity to the cities of Pateros, Brewster, Chelan, or Manson.
Again today, higher temperatures
and lower relative humidities will occur over the fire, with isolated gusty afternoon
winds.
The surrounding communities
have expressed their gratitude for the continued outpouring of donations and
aid that keeps sustaining them.
Portions of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest remain
closed due to the fire activity. Please
contact the Fire Information line listed at the top of the page for more
specific information.
The community of Lake Chelan
would like the public to know that businesses are open as usual.
