  1. The Upper Falls fire is 0% contained (not contained). For several days the indication is that "type 1 crews are on order and are critical to achieving our objectives". I believe this means that help is urgently needed for our firefighters but is not available. I think that people concerned about their homes should call their government representatives (Congress and State) to ask for help.

  2. Thank you for your support. Type 1 crews (Hot Shot) are a limited national resource. They respond across the country and are used for the most difficult, technical hand crew work. During the peak times of the fire seasons and with the amount of major fire burning across the Pacific Northwest and Northern California there is an extreme competition for resources and they are deployed to areas as needed. At this point we do have a need for these types of crew but unfortunately there are other communities that are experiencing a more imminent threat of loss of life or residence. We need the Hot Shot crews, and have one assigned at this time but other fires need them more.

Also, 0% containment does not mean 0% progress. it takes a while for fire crews to cut line, mitigate any threat of fire crossing the lines and then ensure that the lines will hold. That work takes days to complete. Crew are working hard and getting a lot done, it just takes time.

    Thanks again for the support.
