Fire Name: Carlton Complex (South Zone)        Start Date:  7/14/2014       Cause: Lightning
Location: The Carlton Complex South Zone is located on private, state and federally managed lands north of Chelan, Washington.

Public Meetings:
Brewster - Sunday, July 27, 2014, 7p.m., Brewster High School, 503 7th Ave., Brewster, WA
Pateros – Monday, July 28, 2014, 6 p.m., Pateros High School, 344 Beach St., Pateros, WA

Current Information:

Good progress was made today with the construction of handline from Goat Mountain to the left hand fork of Black Creek, and also from the north to Little Joe Creek. Helicopters and the Super Scooper planes, which scooped water from the Columbia River while in flight, aided firefighters along the west facing slope above Little Joe Creek. In some areas handline construction remains slow and difficult due to heavy vegetation and steep terrain. Firefighters are cautioned to watch for rolling trees and debris. Limited tree torching was observed in the interior, but this did not pose a threat to containment lines. At this time, there is no threat from fire activity to the cities of Pateros, Brewster, Chelan, or Manson.

Higher temperatures and lower relative humidities occurred over the fire today with light winds.

The surrounding communities have expressed their gratitude for the continued outpouring of donations and aid that keeps sustaining them.

Advisories:

Portions of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest remain closed due to the fire activity.  Please contact the Fire Information line listed at the top of the page for more specific information.

Evacuations:  Several areas continue to be under evacuation orders by the Okanogan County Sheriff'’s Office.  For detailed information, go to the Facebook pages of the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office or Chelan County Office of Emergency Management.

The community of Lake Chelan would like the public to know that businesses are open as usual.
