8.5 Fire Update

A thank you to the fire crews
We recieved this email today, it was a great way to start the day! We have appreciated the outpouring of support for the incident personal throughout this incident by the community.

This last weekend we were caught on the river during the crazy thunderstorm this past Saturday. We took shelter at a kind woman's house along the banks. We listened to and watched trees falling right and left. We watched lightening strike and new fires start. By the time the wind let up enough for us to get to our take out (maybe 45 minutes), the highway had already been cleared of fallen trees. As we drove home we passed a line of firefighters standing on the side of the road. I wanted to convey to each one of them how impressed and thankful I was for their hard work.
While we took shelter, they worked. While we sat at home recovering, they jumped from planes in to remote areas to fight fires. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Whether pilot, ground crew, administration or some job description I am unaware of, thank you. Your hard work is impressive and important!"

8.4 Phone line updates
We are still working hard to resolve the phone line issue. Right now it
appears that local calls can get through to the 509-996-9971 information
line but long distance calls can not. If you calling from outside the area please call 253-271-4386.

8.4 Phone lines down
We have just been advised that the phone lines into the Incident Command
post are down with an estimated repair time of 8 hours. We are activity working to correct this problem and will post new numbers as soon as they become available.
8.4.14 Evacuation Levels Change
As of 11:30am the Okanogan Sheriff's Officer has updated the evacuation level for the Rising Eagle Road Fire and the northwest corner of the Carlton Complex near Winthrop.
The new levels are:

Situación actual del fuego:
Tomando ventaja de las
condiciones favorables de ayer, el equipo de bomberos forestales pudo lograr un
progreso substancial en la línea de contención de fuego, el equipo hizo un
progreso substancial en la línea de contención de fuego del “Rising Eagle Road” y el Carlton Complex. El equipo de bomberos
trabajaron agresivamente para contener el fuego; fortaleciendo las líneas de contención
porque se está pronosticando un viento fuerte en el área para este martes.
Cinco grupos de ataque inicial con asistencia de helicóptero empezaron a
construir una línea de contención directa en la zona escarpada del perímetro
del fuego en el área del oeste y norte del Pearrygin Lake. Recursos aéreos
continúan a jugar un papel vital en el éxito de la contención del fuego de este
complejo; apoyando los esfuerzos de supresión del fuego y asistiendo con
ataques iniciales a nuevos fuegos en los lugares cerca del complejo.
La prioridad de hoy estará enfocándose en la contención
del 502-acres del fuego “Rising Eagle
Road”, acabar la construcción de la línea directa de contención cerca
del lago Pearrygin, asegurar la línea de contención
en la zona este del mirador “Leecher Lookout” y limpiar en la zona
noroeste de la zona de esquiar en el área del Highway 20. Las zonas este y sur
del fuego serán monitoreados por patrol y también equipos aéreos para reconocer
fuego en la distancia. Se está usando maquinarias para patrullar la zona para detectar
nuevos fuegos y proveer ataque inicial en el área de donde se juntan la zona
urbana y zona forestal. El Washington National Guard continúa a proveer su
apoyo combatiendo fuego y patrullando las rutas cerradas.
